1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 2/3 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

Optional Icing Ingredients:

For White Icing:

1 cup icing sugar

2-3 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional: a pinch of salt

For Yellow Icing:

1 cup icing sugar

2-3 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Yellow food coloring

For Black Icing:

1/2 cup icing sugar

1-2 tablespoons milk

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Black food coloring

Note: If you prefer a convenient option, you can also use pre-made icing tubes, which are readily available in various colours at most grocery stores and baking supply shops. Simply follow the instructions on the packaging to decorate your cookies.

    In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.

    Slowly add the flour mixture to the batter and blend thoroughly.

Optional Icing

    For white Icing, mix icing sugar, milk, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Adjust the consistency with milk if needed.

    For yellow Icing, mix icing sugar, milk, vanilla, and yellow food colouring until desired colour is achieved.

    For black Icing, mix icing sugar, milk, vanilla, and black food coloring until desired colour is achieved.

    Outline cookie patterns with black icing.

    Allow the yellow and black icing to set and harden for a few hours or until dry to the touch.
